Hi, this is the question for the core team. I can only guess maybe there's no need? CentOS modifies only a few packages. So the majority of SPEC files remains the very same as RH ones. David Hrbáč
And for the package that they do not have an rpm for centos what you suppose to do? example: matplotlib (there is also the issue of python 2.4 from fedora's specs files)

That's outside of the scope of CentOS's mission.

It is not really needed as all the packages come from RH? What would you want to use this for? Something we are working on is a online package browser, but that is something that will not be finished soon.
Cheers Didi
let's say I want numpy fedora is using python 2.7 centos has 2.4 I have seen 3-4 different kind of numpy.rpm for centos and I am looking for something more official

IMHO, EPEL package is more close to Fedora package, slightly outdated though.

If you want to enable EPEL to get some fedora extra packages through yum see:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#howtouse
after that you can use yum as usual eg:
yum install numpy
PS. EPEL is part of Fedora project so please don't ask EPEL specific question on CentOS mailing-list.
HTH, Regards

Hi, there's another option, rpmforge. Currently doesn't contain numpy, but you can ask for inclusion, see http://lists.rpmforge.net/mailman/listinfo/suggest Regards, David Hrbáč
