Hi,
ok - now I'm on the centos-devel list... :-)
I have a small system hosting two MediaWiki's which are occasionally hit by a few users - its currently running CentOS 5.0, I plan to update it to 5.2 in the next days, and I could install PHP 5.2 for testing since it's not a mission-critical site. Since it's a virtual machine, I could also do the first steps in a "lab-like" environment on a copy.
Would that be helpful?
Best regards, __ /homas

This will be an unofficial build (upstream it's still 5.1.6), so I want to open up the suggestion box a bit further ... Anyone here tried to build it already with suhosin? Built several php versions up to 5.2.x (not exactly sure which versions I could not get built), found some instructions and spec files online, but when I start patching it with suhosin it blows up in my face.(I have merely basic rpm building skills) Will provide some more info tomorrow when I am at work if anyone is interested? For people that do not know suhosin: http://www.hardened-php.net/suhosin/ , for the full security you should have the extension AND the patch (the extension is findable for 5.1.6 in rpm format but not the patched version, which is already default in freebsd, gentoo and debian as far as I know ... )

Sounds like something to think about once we have php-5.2.

I have built a version of php-suhosin and it is in the testing repo. It would have to be rebuilt with on the new version.
This is just the "module" of suhosin, but that provides most of the functionality and can be installed on unmodified php.

To continue on with the securing webservers theme the last bit of my wishlist after php5.2 and suhosin is mod_security. I currently grab this from epel but would love to have this from CentOS.
For testing this i could raise my bid from 2*dell 840s to 2*840s, 1*2950 and 1*1950 if it sweetens the deal any.

Should we get a wishlist page on the wiki going ? That gives people the ability to request ( and put their names again ) packages, allows people to offer to test ( and put their names again ), and allows people to offer to maintain the packages.

Excellent idea. A wishlist page would simplify the process considerably as well as allowing yourselves to see how much people are actually prepared to do in order to have the package that they want as part of the distro provided extras.
I have no real problem with pulling in packages from other third party repos (and very much appreciate the efforts made by all to provide these resources :-) ) but to my mind it is tidier to get everything i need from the one source and if i can contribute to that effort in any way then all the better.

Hi, I have a few mods: http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el5/hrb/stable/SRPMS/repodata/repoview/M.group.html
Complete repo for mod_gnutls support: http://fs12.vsb.cz/hrb33/el5/hrb-tls/stable/SRPMS/repodata/
EL4 versions are in el4 folder. :o) David Hrbáč
Me too.
We're hosting some Joomla! 1.5 based sites that run Nooku (multilanguage system) which requires php 5.2. In addition to this we host info@hand based sites (a SugarCRM based system). This also needs php 5.2. I can test it on a second server (old 386 1GHz)

P.S. rebuild from Fedora Spec with some extensions added (oci8, sqlite, t1lib...)
Karanbir,
could you give me a the link to the test repo? I didn't find it on the CentOS.org site and, of course, it's not in the CentOS-Base.repo file.
Thanks
