forums + portal for {lang}.centos.org sites

Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. Here are the first two rounds of CentOS 7 ppc64le rpms, build logs, and mock configs: Round A: http://ppcbootstrap.lon1.centos.org/C7a/ppc64le/ * Built atop Fedora 21 ppc64le VMs * Built from http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/os/Source/SPackages/ and c7-ppc64le branch on git.centos.org * Source rpms were temporarily modified to remove circular dependencies during the bootstrap process Round B: http://ppcbootstrap.lon1.centos.org/C7b/ppc64le/ * Built atop Centos 7 ppc64le VMs * Built from http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/os/Source/SPackages/ , http://vault.centos.org/7.1.1503/updates/Source/SPackages/ , and c7-ppc64le branch on git.centos.org * noarch rpms were skipped as those will be taken from c7-x86_64 * Only gcc.spec (%global build_ada 0), curl.spec (upstream testcase fix), ghostscript.spec (upstream segfault fix) and nss.spec (upstream fix for expired PayPal cert) were modified. I will provide further details on these alterations on the altarch ppc64le wiki page once that gets created. Feedback is most welcome. Request to join the Cloud Instance SIG for Microsoft Azure

Hi All: As requested, I would like to introduce myself as a representative of Microsoft Azure and request membership in the CentOS Cloud Instance SIG. My formal goal in joining this group is of course to bring community-supported and high-quality CentOS images to Microsoft Azure. At Microsoft I drive the technical collaboration with many of the various Linux distributions that exist in the Azure Gallery - which includes numerous efforts around image creation, testing and support of these images on Azure. I hope to do the same with the CentOS community. My group is also responsible for a few other key components that will be important for this effort, such as the device drivers for Hyper-V/Azure (which already ship with the CentOS kernel), the Azure Linux agent and various others. We work closely with the upstream developers to ensure customers have a great experience running CentOS in Hyper-V/Azure virtualized environments. Having official CentOS images I think will allow us to build and continue to improve on those efforts. Looking forward to working with you all. Please let me know if I should provide more details. I would like to join the CentOS Cloud Instance SIG on behalf of the Oracle Cloud team. My background in IT spans 25 years across verticals and Operating Systems. In my current Solution Architect role at Oracle, our team engages with System Integrator, ISV partners and Communities such as CentOS so their technologies and solutions are enabled on exciting new Oracle products and technologies through reference architectures, solution design, best practices and implementation guidance. My current focus area includes Oracle Compute Cloud Services and Oracle Marketplace. Oracle Compute Cloud Service is an Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering that provides flexible and scalable compute, block storage, and networking services on Oracle Cloud. Oracle Compute Cloud Service is ideal for customers who want to set up test and development environment in the public cloud, or migrate their on-premises workloads to the public cloud and leverage the benefits of cloud. Vagrant box builds are failing in cbs

Hi, Looks like there is some issue with cbs i.e. image-factory, because all vagrant builds are failing for me. The builds are failing for source files which had built fine previously. For example build [1] is using the same source files (kickstart files etc) as build [2] but it failed where as build [2] has succeeded previously. kernel debug and kernel module debug

Hello, I am new with CentOs, and more familiar with small linux kernel Sdk. I would like to ask if it is possible to kernel debug ( and kernel module debug in particular) CentOs kernel module. I've been searching the subject in web, but only found reference to qemo+gdb. I wanted to debug a kernel module in the real hardware environment so I think qemo is not going to help in this case. VPAT for centos 7 - section 508 compliance statement

I am working on getting Centos 7 approved for use at a federal agency, RHEL is already approved for use in production. One of the blockers I hit is, "Does the vendor provide a VPAT?" Does the attached look right? Where should this be posted? Where can I get the source code of the qemu-kvm package in centos7

Hi experts, >From http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/Packages/ site, I can find qemu-kvm rpm package. And I want to see the source code of qemu-kvm for this package, where can I find it? >From the package name 'qemu-kvm-1.5.3-86.el7.x86_64.rpm <http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/os/x86_64/Packages/qemu-kvm-1.5.3-86.el7.…>', the qemu version is 1.5.3. Are the source code just the same as code from site http://git.qemu.org/ with 1.5.3 tag? Regards, Jackie
