Hi, Earlier in the evening today Ralph, Fabian and I had a chat about the present state of the language subsites. This email sort of summarises the main issue ( s/w ). We seem to have run into a slight technical hitch with punbb/fluxbb. They dont support LDAP as a backend. And we had decided a few months back that all new rollouts must have ldap backend so we can rollin CentOS-DS / openldap based backend. So we need to look at alternatives, and since the primary focus of these international sites is going be forums : Here is a shortlist ( if there is anything else that people are aware of, please add to this list ) - phpBB - SMF - Fudforum - phorum - fluxbb Requirements: - Must be able to scale ( couple of hundred thousand msgs ) - Must be able to handle ldap auth ( if it cant, whats involved in writing the ldap-auth portion ) - Must address the specific requirements raised by the present www.centos.org forum users ( Can you please fill this section in ? ) - Must support all languages we need ( pure utf8 support would be good ) - Secure - Skin'able Nice to have: - Capable of running multiple instances from a single deployment - responsive community :D Things we will need to do: - Decide on what s/w to use. - Give the ArtWork people enough time to get the look & feel sorted. - Migrate newbb forums from www.centos.org to $system ( hey, english is a language too :D ). - Migrate fr.centos.org into the final s/w - setup {de/es/ja/it/pt_br}.centos.org Actions: Ralph and Fabian are going to work on setting up a test ldap server, once that is online we will then start by installing into our test-vm-farm the various s/w to eval them. If anyone would like to help, please feel free to jump right in. CentOS 8 on AWS

Hi, I am a user of CentOS 8. When can we expect an image on AWS? I am just learning AWS and would like to use CentOS 8 for that. https://wiki.centos.org/SpecialInterestGroup/CloudInstance says that this is the list to ask. thanks --- Lee

[RDO][OpenStack] Removal of Pike and Ocata Trunk repos

Hi, The topic was discussed in yesterday's RDO meeting[1] and to reach a wider audience it's being raised here. Ocata and Pike are in the Extended maintenance phase[2] for more than a year now, The promotion jobs which used to test these repos were dropped long ago[3][4]. Now we are planning to drop these trunk repos[5][6] in the first week of June, 2020. We already stopped building new commits for pike/ocata[7]. So if anyone still using these repos consider moving to upgrade to queens or any later releases. If something is blocking you to stop relying on ocata/pike repos raise your voice here so we can consider it before dropping the repos. Hello, what is timeline or current state of CentOS 8.2? For CentOS 8.1 I watched https://wiki.centos.org/About/Building_8.x, but for CentOS 8.2 I don't found something like this. Thanks, Filip Bartmann

Centos 8.1 - missing src.rpms (again)

Hi all, After the last updates to centos 8.1 packages, it seems the src.rpms have not been pushed to vault. For example, kernel-4.18.0-147.8.1.el8_1.src.rpm is nowhere to be found, even in 8.1.1911 I am also using this opportunity to again request that vault symlink for centos/8 be updated to point to latest (8.1.1911) state. Currently it is still pointing to 8.0.1905. Thanks and best regards, Antal

Hello, http://mirror.centos.org/centos-8/8.1.1911/extras/x86_64/os/repodata/repomd… appears to be invalid. Looking at it's modification time looks like repomd.xml wasn't re-signed after the last update? Regards, Giedrius

Is this the right channel to address the board?

Dear Board of Directors, Several times over the past months I have raised an issue here - what I believe to be the right channel for raising issues to the board - and gotten complete radio silence. This is intensely frustrating. Now, for me, personally, I can always to go to Karsten, or Jim, or to the IRC channel where I know that lots of the board hang out, and I can bug individual board members, and be a burr under their saddle until stuff gets done. This *cannot* be the means of engagement for our community members who don't have that kind of privilege and access. Is there (or, rather, should there be, since I know there isn't) a board(a)centos.org mailing list where I can raise an issue directly to the board - a place where I can actually discuss an issue with the board, and expect a response? We (it's not just me asking) would like to know what is the *correct* way to solicit a decision from the Board, so that people can move forward with something, rather than just waiting and wondering.
