I needed SVN Subversion 1.4 or greater on my centos server

Hi, Please help me.. I needed SVN Subversion 1.4 or greater on my centos server. I enabled CentOSPlus by editing /etc/yum.repos.d/CentOS-Base.repo But I got Subversion 1.1.4, which have lots of bugs which is fixed in higher version of subversion 1.4 Release http://subversion.tigris.org/svn_1.4_releasenotes.html. Subversion 1.4 Release is stable version. Is there any reason why we do not have Subversion 1.4 in the CentOSPlus repo ? Is there any way to use Subversion 1.4 in the CentOSPlus repo. Thanks in Advance. help needed : Distro migration guides / scripts

Hello everyone, Firstly, have a great new year everyone! I am sure its going to be an exciting 2007! Secondly, I am looking for some help with creating migration guides and ( if needed ) scripts to help people move from Oracle's Linux to CentOS. There have been a few requests for this, and we know that people who installed Oracle's linux are updating their machines against the CentOS repo's : and we'd like to give them an option of doing the right thing. Its important that we make sure they dont leave behind broken installed tree's ( Oracle does some odd things to the package Release tag's and in some cases these people updating against CentOS will get left with dangling packages, it would be nice if that didnt happen ). So, would anyone like to take up this task ? I will help in whatever way possible, David Parsley has also offered to help along anyone with his experience in doing the TaoLinux to CentOS migration process. What we need is essentially this : 1) A way to get the right config's setup ( and the centos-release package installed ) 2) Check the updates and package management system - get yum installed and ensure up2date is pointing at the right place 3) Check for packages that need updating - and inform the user about them. 4) check for orphans ( packages that have no update path in the new CentOS repo's ) and report them to the user - there is a script in yum-utils that already does this. 5) Check and report on packages which have a EVR > than whats in CentOS and report on what they are ( and maybe some changelog info that the user can see and decide what he wants to do with the? or is that even required ? ) 6) Finally, do whatever is required to either move the machine to CentOS or leave it alone. LSI logic controller sym53c8xx and centOS 4.x

Hi, I am having difficulty with a LSI logic Symbios 3ware type device that runs a RAID 5 array on one of our servers. I tried to install centOS 4.4 and the unit stops dead in the installation process during the symbios driver installation. The alt-f3 (I think) screen had the following on it: ... sym0: ABORT operation started. sym0: ABORT operation timed-out. sym0: DEVICE RESET operation started. sym0: DEVICE RESET operation timed-out. sym0: BUS RESET operation started. sym0: BUS RESET operation timed-out. sym0: HOST RESET operation started. sym0: SCSI BUS has been reset. I did some googling, and found that the CentOS 4.1 install disk would work so I tried that and installed a minimal installation. When I boot after the successfull install, I get the same errors as the 4.4 installation cd. Does anyone know how to fix this at least after the install (I can use yum to update everything after that). CentOS Testing repository openldap-2.3.27.el4.centos with smbk5pwd for i386 and x86_64

There are new versions of openldap-2.3.27-4.el4.centos in the testing repository for i386 and x86_64. http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories (for info on the testing repository) This version of openldap is the current version in RHEL5B2 and Fedora Core 6. The purpose of this build is that I modified openldap to produce the smbk5pwd overlay from the contrib directory in the openldap source. smbk5pwd is an openldap module/overlay that keeps a Samba PDC's LDAP passwords in sync regardless of if the change is made via LDAP (ldappasswd), windows (usually smbpasswd), or Unix (passwd). If any of the 3 LDAP passwords are modified, the overlay modifies all three ... keeping them in sync. I have tested this version on 3 servers in a test environment on i386. Instructions on how to setup the slapd.conf file are included in /usr/share/doc/openldap-servers-xxxx/README.smbk5pwd This version requires you to upgrade your databases if you are using a bdb backend ... you need to save your data before you upgrade .. something like this: cd service ldap stop slapcat > slapcat.out upgrade RPMS cd /var/lib/ldap remove all old databases make sure you have a DB_CONFIG file in /var/lib/ldap modify your /etc/openldap/slapd.conf file to point to these (they used to be in /var/run with no openldap dir): pidfile /var/run/openldap/slapd.pid argsfile /var/run/openldap/slapd.args also add this index to slap.conf: index uniqueMember pres see the above listed README file if you want to add smbk5pwd slapadd ~/slapcat.out chown -R ldap.ldap /var/lib/ldap slaptest slapindex -v service ldap start ------------------------------------ Thanks, Johnny Hughes

malloc(): memory corruption

Hi, all! I run httpd with our site and get in error_log: *** glibc detected *** malloc(): memory corruption: 0x000000552b92eda0 *** [Wed Dec 27 06:45:16 2006] [notice] child pid 3646 exit signal Aborted (6) for 50% query. This is present on 4 servers. I don't think about hardware memory problem. What I can do for fix it? Thanks!

possible default changes to yum.conf

All, What do people think about modifying the default yum.conf file to contain the following: plugins=1 This is an essential setting if people want to install the 2 "extras" plugins yum-plugin-fastestmirror and yum-plugin-priorities (both of which I highly recommend). CentOS currently ships with no plugins setting yum.conf, and the default is 0. If installing plugins, this setting must be manually added to yum.conf. This is documented in the readme's for the plugins, in the "installing software with yum" guide in CentOS Docs, and on the CentOS wiki ... however people still mess up their machines because they install the plugins, do not set the setting, and do upgrades. There are no plans to ship any plugins in the default CentOS-4, however I think it would be good to turn on the "plugins=1" setting by default. That way when people install plugins, they will work without requiring mods to yum.conf. I think that is what most users expect, as it has been the default in Fedora Core since at least FC3 and it is the default in RHEL 5 beta 2. What does everyone else think? Thanks, Johnny Hughes
