The fedora guys have beern working on stuff that we also ought to look at , and we should look at metalinks while we are at it. For sure they have been making a good work, and of course it is desirable that JPackage 1.7b (or whatever version) goes stable so that we have something that is very usable (enterprise/stable). If RHWAS needs packages that are provided by JPackage (is this the case?), and JPackage provides a great diversity of packages for the Java world, I'd like to rise a discussion on this: - how to provide a healthy/enterprise/[reasonably community supported] Java environment on CentOS - if packaging by ourselves is interesting - if we could get more engaged on JPackage (or make our own JPackage modified version) - if it is interesting to make a QA team for the Java Ecosystem on CentOS, because of its importance What do you thing? Converting CD <=> DVD

Hi, I am enclosing scripts and config files to generate exact copy of CentOS 5.0 i386 installation DVD image, that is CentOS-5.0-i386-bin-DVD.iso if you have CD images for i386. linux system is required to run them. If there is interest I can post the same for x86_64. Please follow README files for instructions. All the scripts are GPL. SHA1 for attached files: 439f7b0bd50722388a2836eedafeb1c227f97385 *00_README.txt 520e805b4c9386d1e08b3741337ee83afe60547d *DVDgen_bin_i386.tar.bz2 I am wondering if you would consider the scripts appropriate for inclusion on CentOS servers, so that people who need both DVD and CD could download jost one of them (after simplifications made possible by having all needed files on http / ftp / rsync servers ) [ The scripts would be simplified, if needed files, which are now obtained with curl, could be included. They are too large for inclusion in mail, so used the curl approach. ] I am also considering writing a script which would generate DVD iso image directly from CD iso files, without requiring individual files (which are now accessed via loopback mouting or copying from mounted media). Such script could be then run on any machine with perl installed, even most non-linux one. I can see from mail posting that a lot of people use non-linux machines for downloading, so maybe this would be valuable. Best regards, Wojtek Pilorz

Back-story: I had pdftk working fine under CentOS 4.4, but upgrading to 5.0 (with gcj 4.1.1) broke the compile process with the following error: PngImage.java:568: error: Class 'ImgRaw' not found in type declaration. So I googled like crazy, worked out a fix, tested it, built a patch file and packaged it up to save others the trouble. There is a spec file for pdftk at svn.rpmforge.net, but it does not use a patch for this problem. CD to DVD script

The script below, a mod of http://merlin.fit.vutbr.cz/mirrors/centos/build/mkdvdiso.sh mentioned in http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos-docs/2006-September/000039.html works for me to create a DVD ISO from a set of C5 CD ISOs. The repo-tree part is still not working. Any advice appreciated. Hello, Firstly, allow me to congratulate you all on the release of 5.0! About a year ago I requested the CentOS team consent to adding the CentOS logo to Wikipedia's CentOS article. Images can be posted and still retain the trademark.
