hi guys,
I fear this or very similar - https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=13585 - is back with new Samba from c7.8. samba-4.10.4-10.el7.x86_64 glusterfs-server-6.9-1.el7.x86_64 If anybody here is glusterfs mail list consumer then it's "Unable to create new files or folders using samba and vfs_glusterfs"
This I'll say would be freaking urgent. many thanks, L.

Can please someone put back previous samba version into the repos ASAP? We should _ALWAYS_ have prev versions in repos so people could downgrade at least once.
thanks, L.

Not to enter the specific topic (Samba). two points:
- I'm subscribed to both lists, but I think you should have written to centos list and not centos-devel for this problem. You would have got more answers by final users that could have similar problems.
- I think your point here is that probably you have upgraded from 7.7 to 7.8 So your yum repo files now point to 7.8 and its updates If you want to revert some packages to their 7.7 provided version, if possible without breaking dependencies based on the package you want to "rollback", you could try to also enable CentOS vault repositories (see http://vault.centos.org/). For example using appropriate repo files pointing to directories under http://vault.centos.org/7.7.1908/ (updates and os)
And then try to use sudo yum downgrade *<package_name>*-*<version_info>*
and see if it works and automatically solve dependencies. Not tried myself. Verify on a test system first. Anyway the yum command should ask you for confirmation before proceeeding with the downgrade.

All the configurations are in /etc/yum.repo.d/ enable the one you need.

Maybe in such a case the easiest would be to simply download the required RPMs and do "rpm -Uvh --oldpackage samba*.rpm".

I can understand your frustration. But please don't poke on every mailing list at once as if whole world is gonna come down. Please be patient to let people from community look around the issue and get back to you.
For now I think it is better to continue on gluster-users@gluster.org and come back here if required. And it also seems like you missed my reply there as you have different mailing lists to keep track on.
many thanks, L.

Are you by any chance a regular "Vouge" reader? If you are not already then you should give it a good try. Your frivolous choice of words like "every" or "gonna come down" confirm you and the "Vouge" should be a happy match. I emailed only, again, only! involved parties, three of them to be specific and why _all_ three of them??? (don't get it - see "Vouge" connection)

Nope, I do not see any reply on gluster's list. Keeping a track of all the emails is a tiny effort. Just need to want, to sort out 'filters' rules only once, at both your email service provider and your Firefox and done, easy. Glusterfs mailing list is not without its problems, one of which, a major one, is not having fixed, worked around DMARC "problem", which other lists owners(eg. Centos) took care of long time ago - so users like myself (on Yahoo and the likes) would get their own messages instead those messages going to a black hole.
many thanks, L.
