hi,
I am searching for some Belgian CentOS contributors who want to go to
brucon.org. I would want to make a combined booth (Fedora -CentOS), if
that is possible for the organisation. so let me know what you think
about it.
regards,
Bert desmet
Hi,
I am pleased to announce the first edition of the bi-weekly CentOS
newsletter which we dubbed "CentOS Pulse".
This first issue centers around improving communication within the CentOS
community and how that relates to the CentOS Promo SIG. We also look at
the recent announcements regarding the CentOS LiveCD and the CentOS
Directory Server. And dive into interesting community threads and the
latest CentOS security updates.
You can read the newsletter at:
http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter/0901
If you want to get an update everytime we release a new newsletter issue,
you can subscribe to the newly created and low-traffic
centos-newsletter mailing list at:
http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-newsletter
The project team considers the CentOS Newsletter an important tool to
communicate directly with the community. It is run by the community to
collect interesting bits from the wiki, mailinglist, forums, SIGs and
other sources, and put them into the spotlight.
More information about the newsletter and how you can contribute is
available from:
http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter
Happy reading !

Hi,
first I want to say who I am, because I am new to this list:
I am Bert Desmet,
I live in Kruishoutem, that near Ghent in Belgium.
I am 21years old, and I am still a student.
I am also a fedora-ambassador, and I work on smolts.org, and I try to
write patches for sugarlabs.org. I am also a tester for olpc-belgium.
you can find my website here: http://www.bdesmet.be
what do I do with centos? Well, I just run a server at home, using
Centos :)
kind regards,
Bert Desmet
Hi Everybody,
as we discussed on last FOSDEM (and probably on any other event), we
always wanted to have CentOS T-Shirts as giveaways.
Nobody really seemed to pick it up, so eventually Sarah made it happen.
So we proudly present: The CentOS T-Shirt!
We have quite a few of them - we'll bring them to FrOSCon and we could
even try to arrange to have some at LinuxTag, too.
Regards,
Andreas

Hi Everybody,
I apologize for having messed this up. I absolutely missed the Call for
Papers. I would have also missed the Call for Projects, if Ralph didn't
say a word.
I could argue that the timeframes are too short and complain about
everything, but after all it is my fault. And thus, I'll try to clean
that mess up.
The FrOSCon deadline for the project registration is 30.05.2009. My
personal deadline for that is 27.05.2009 24:00 CEST. So if we want to
decide any fundamental stuff, we need to do it quickly.
Has anyone of you (besides Didi) had a chance to submit a Paper in time?
Does anyone want to give a talk/lecture/workshop/whatever? If we can
fill half a day I can try to get a devroom where we can do it.
I can offer my talk about diskless CentOS with iSCSI and a
workshop/demonstration afterwards (about 1 hour).
As I'll need a rough estimate of the number of people, I'd really
appreciate if everyone who is willing to help out could tell me as soon
as possible. One or two people more or less aren't a big deal, but last
year we had one desk and two chairs for about six people...
I'll also ask on the centos-de Mailinglist if there are more people who
want to help out.
With the information I currently have I would order two desks, five
chairs and a movable wall for posters.
We can also have a bar table which we could probably place somewhere in
front of our booth. Maybe this is a good idea, what do you think?
A few dumb questions from a first-time project registree to the more
expierienced people:
Is there an official project description for CentOS? Is the PressKit[1]
from the Wiki up-to-date/ok to use?
What logo should I use for the registration? Of course, I can just use
the standard-logo[2], but that somehow doesn't "feel" right.

Andreas

Hi again.
Seeing that I missed the Call for Papers (not my year this year): Is
anyone taking care of getting a booth for CentOS at Froscon this year?
Call for projects has been opened on 18th of May ...
Cheers,
Ralph
Hey
I will be going to HAR2009 ``On August 13-16, 2009 the 20th
anniversary edition of the four-yearly Dutch outdoor
technology-conference will take place near Vierhouten, NL.''
Maybe CentOS will want a tent or some representation.
Shall I add a wiki-page?
Cheers Didi

Hi all,
The CentOS Newsletter is a new initiative taken to promote CentOS, but
also to improve the communication inside of the community itself.
http://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter
Currently we envision a Newsletter that highlights some of the things that
are going on inside of the different community's channels. But we probably
could do much more, all of this depends on contributions and ideas of
those people that are already involved.
So what I am looking for are people that
- think about what subject, thread or article could be useful for the
Newsletter (as much as possible)
- write new content that can be featured in the Newsletter
- are willing to (co)maintain a section in the Newsletter on a bi-weekly
basis
We haven't decided what sections will go into the Newsletter yet, but here
is a list of the things that are possible. If you have other ideas, please
share them with the centos-promo mailinglist (or send them to me
personally).
We are looking for a few recurring sections for the Newsletter:
* Foreword
* Featured Article(s)
* Wonderful Wiki Whatever (new documentation in the wiki)
* Community Threads (interesting threads on mailinglist, forums and blogs)
* CentOS Fixes (an overview of the recent errata)
* Development Discussions (what happens on centos-devel)
* CentOS in the News (who's covering CentOS)
* ...
Of course, if we don't have any content for a section at some point, we
will leave that section out.
So who is interested to help out with the first and second issue ? And
who is interested to maintain/edit one of these sections ?
I am looking for people in the different communities (mailinglist, forums
and blogs) that keep up with things and offer items to be featured.
I am also interested in reports about new developments within the
community from the different SIGs, from the developers and project members
to highlight areas where is being worked on and what progress we are making.
If you are interested, you know where to find me :)

Es ist mal wieder soweit, für den diesjährigen Linuxtag läuft der Call
for Projects. CentOS wird sich erneut für einen Stand auf dem Linuxtag
bewerben, wer dabei sein möchte, sollte bitte die (englischsprachige)
Mailingliste centos-promo(a)centos.org
<http://lists.centos.org/centos-promo/> abonnieren und dort an der
Diskussion teilnehmen.
It is this time of year again: CentOS is going to Linuxtag 2009 (well,
at least we will try to get a booth there). If you want to be part of
the team there, stay tuned for news here in centos-promo(a)centos.org.
Deadline for the projects is 24th of march (short call!), I will try to
apply sooner than that >:)
Cheers and thanks,
Ralph
