Hi,
Someone made me aware of the LinuxWorld Expo UK 2008 which apparently is
taking place this year (unlike last year). I noticed there was a website
that does say that CentOS has a booth and is present, although it is not
on the wiki, nor is there any information about it ?
http://www.linuxexpo.org.uk/centos
I assume Lance arranged this, but would it be possible to add it to the
list on the wiki in the future so things can be planned and executed like
with other events ?
I have added the event now to the wiki, but we need to make sure we have a
proper booth. Since it coincides with T-DOSE I will not be able to go to
London, and neither will some other people that already have committed for
T-DOSE.
So, who from the UK is willing to go to LinuxWorld Expo and can help with
the booth ?
We also have to look at how we can have some of the flyers, posters and/or
stickers to the UK.

We've had another very succesful event at FrOSCon in Sankt-Augustin, DE.
If we can do other events at this pace we might get more women into CentOS
in the future :)
FroSCOn 2007: 1 girl
FroSCOn 2008: 2 girls
Maybe we need to make a girl section at the booth next year ?
Anyway, thanks to Andreas and Sarah for organising the booth at FrOSCon
this year, and also thanks to Ralph for organising the booth at LinuxTag
and being present and doing presentations at other conferences.
This year we had CentOS stickers, thanks to Marcus. We even have
4 different kinds now ! (not sure how long they will last)
Also thanks to everyone that contributed to the booth, next events:
LinuxWorld Expo UK in London, UK
T-DOSE in Eindhoven, NL
If you want to become more involved with CentOS, helping to promote it is
one of the options to get in touch.

Dear projects,
T-DOSE 2008 is on 25th till 26th of October in Eindhoven at the Fontys
University of applied science. See location for more details
http://www.t-dose.org/t-dose/location. I want to thank you for being
present at our conference. With your help T-DOSE 2008 will be bigger and
better then last year. So do not hesitate to announce your presence at
T-DOSE on your projects website and tell everybody about this nice
conference.
Here is information on the stands and speakerslots.
Open Source project stands
==========================
The entrance opens at 09:00 hrs and close on 18:30 hrs on Saturday and
Sunday.
Here some details on the stand:
- the size of the stand is a normal table
- wifi/ethernet access to Internet is available
- bring your own ethernet cables
- bring your own power cords
- wall space is limited so not everybody will have the capability to
hang something on a wall, so bring your own 'wall' ;-) if you need one
- at the event the projects name will be put on a 'stand' table so you
know where you are supposed to be
- stands are at the entrance of the building
Call For Paper
==============
The call for paper has been extended till 30th of September. Possible
subjects for talks are: Web 2.0, Desktop, Multimedia, Gaming, Embedded
and other good ideas. Speakers can send ideas and abstracts to:
abstracts(a)t-dose.org. The e-mail should contain a short biography of the
speaker and description of the talk.

Kind regards,

Hello List,
the List of Participants is finalized and approved by FrOSCon.
As already stated Ralph and Dag will get Speaker ID-Cards and are not
officially listed as Exhibitors.

Andreas

Hello List,
i just recieved another Mail from FrOSCon:
1. List of Participants / ID-Cards
2. Hotel
3. Dinner
4. Materials
5. Pre-Meeting, anyone?
1. List of Participants /ID-Cards
The list has to be finalized until the end of this week. Unless someone
is missing (and tells me until tomorrow) I'll order ID-Cards for:
- Marcus Moeller
- Andreas Rogge
As our speakers get ID-Cards without being listed by me I won't order
ID-Cards for:
- Ralph Angendendt
- Dag Wieers
If required I can try to fetch the ID-Cards on Friday so we don't have
to wait on Saturday.
2. Hotel
The Hotel is open 24 hours a day. The fee has to be paid at the hotel
(and not at FrOSCon)
3. Dinner
FrOSCon asks wether we're thinking about having dinner at the hotel.
There's no true reservation and nothing binds us at all. However, the
guys at the hotel need a rough number of people for planning :)
4. Materials
FrOSCon also asks what materials we'll bring with us, what size they are
and how much power they consume.
I know the following (from the wiki):
Flyers (just on our table)
Posters (how many do we want to use?)
Stickers (just on our table)
Dag's Notebook (approx. 75 Watts)
Ralph's Notebook (approx. 75 Watts)
Marcus' Workstation + TFT (approx. 150 Watts)
Networking Stuff (< 100 Watts)
5. Pre-Meeting
I know I already asked, but as I got no real replies I'll just ask again:
Do we want to have a pre-meeting? Maybe at the hotel?
I know Dag will arrive on Saturday, so he won't join us on Friday.
IIRC Marcus lives near the event site and Ralph doesn't yet know when
he'll arrive at the hotel.
So this is probably mostly a thing for Marcus and me: Do we want to sit
at the hotel, talk and maybe have a beer or two? Depending on when Ralph
arrives he could join us or go straightly off to bed :)
Regards,
Andreas

I just noticed that Dag's and Ralph's talks will be both held on
Saturday from 16:30 to 17:30.
Even though I hope everyone at FrOSCon will attend one of these talks
Marcus and me should probably not plan anything during that time.

Andreas
