Ohio LinuxFest next weekend

Next weekend, CentOS will be sponsoring Ohio LinuxFest, and will have a table there. If you expect to be at OLF, and can spare an hour, or even a half hour, to sit at the table and answer questions, it would be a great help to me. Newsletter contributing

Hello, I would like to contribute something to the newsletter. As you mentioned on your wiki page, there are many ways to to that, for example: - As a translator to your native language - As a proof-reader of the English/native language I could offer to translate the newsletter into German. TL;DR - put your CentOS photos on https://www.flickr.com/groups/4570800@N22/ At events I use the CentOS Flickr group - https://www.flickr.com/groups/4570800@N22/ - as content for the booth monitor, along with Tweets mentioning CentOS to fill space between demos or videos. If you have CentOS photos, please consider adding them to the Flickr group. Moving the newsletter to blog.centos.org (Request for comment)

Hi, folks. The August edition of the CentOS newsletter just went out - https://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter/1803 It's my intention, for the September newsletter, to move it to blog.centos.org as the primary drafting and distribution mechanism, rather than using the wiki. The reasons for this are several: * Easier to delegate editing permission to the various people that have a need to inject content into the newsletter (ie, the SIG folks) * Easier to include media (videos, photos) * More attractive presentation * Easier (that is, possible) collection of statistics as to whether anybody is ever actually reading what we're writing. I realize that, at the moment, this is mostly me producing this content, but my longer-term goal is to include a much larger group of authors, so I don't want to make this decision in a vacuum. Dave, The newsletter list is one-way, and so your response to it was sent through moderation. I would *love* to have your help in getting the newsletter together. So far, it's just me, so there's no other communication channels, but the right one is probably the promo list - https://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-promo (copied) This month, we have (so far) no reports from any of the SIGs, and that's where I've been working: Showing up for the SIG IRC meetings, and asking them for a report, as well as digging through their meeting minutes - https://www.centos.org/minutes/2018/ - looking for items of interest. The next newsletter is scheduled to go out on July 2nd - I try to send newsletters on the first Tuesday of the month. [Promo] What I've been working on (July 1-9 ish)

I wanted to let people know what I've been working on over the last 2 weeks: * Edited and posted the various student interviews from ISC-HPC in Frankfurt - http://youtube.com/TheCentOSProject * Promoting the schedule for the CentOS Dojo at DevConf.us. https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/DevConfUS2018 * Working with the folks at DevConf.in to help organize the CentOS presence there. * Continuing my effort to reconnect with the various SIGs, in an attempt to establish some kind of regular feedback loop between the SIGs and the larger community. Some SIGs have just gone dormant. Others are active, but not in touch with other SIGs, and so there's duplication of effort. * (Very) preliminary work on the CERN Dojo - http://cern.ch/centos - and the FOSDEM Dojo - https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/Brussels2019 * Published the 2nd edition of the newly rebooted CentOS Pulse Newsletter - https://wiki.centos.org/Newsletter/1802 I will be out of the office (an actual family vacation! Community/Promo update, Friday, July 22

Hi, folks, Just wanted to give a quick update on what I've been doing around CentOS Promo over the last few weeks, and what's coming up. Please help me in promoting all of these things around the community. * The CFP for the CentOS Dojo at DevConf.US closes this weekend. Details at https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/DevConfUS2018 To be blunt, I'm leaning very hard towards canceling it, due to the lack of talk submissions that I can actually schedule. So far we have perhaps 3 presentations I would consider scheduling. I will have to make a decision on Monday, so if you are waiting until the last minute, it has arrived. * We will have a booth/table in the community room at DevConf.us. I'm looking for volunteers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KDVgTO4M4UFdtONRHAjKTFRnwUMk4P2tTkZ… I just need people who can be friendly, and answer questions. * Next week I will be at ISC-HPC.com - the European Supercomputing conference. My main goal there is to get video interviews with the students participating in the Student Cluster Competition (because they're all using CentOS) and talk with the research organizations and Universities who are present (because they are, too). * The CFP is open for the CentOS Dojo at CERN. https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/CERN2018 The CFP is going very well, and we'll be able to field a great schedule, based on what I've seen so far. Keep them coming. Also, make sure to register, since security is tight and you won't get in the front door if you haven't registered. * We have booked a space for the annual Dojo at FOSDEM. Same place as last year.
