Hi. For an upcoming promo event, may I get some sample 5.4 files for t-shirts and posters from the Artwork SIG? Or should I just use a sample from here:
http://wiki.centos.org/ArtWork/Preview-5.4
?
Thanks.

we are not updating artwork from 5.3 ( in the 5.4 release ).
Also, I dont think we should bother with the T-shirts - we dont want to hand out something that expensive ( and remember the project is NOT taking on any form of financial donations, so we have no need to sell T-Shirts in return for money - we never had to do that. Ever )
What is good, and its been around since Dag and Fabian organised it many years back is to have some professional Shirts with the CentOS logo on there for the people who are going to be around the stand. At reasonable cost, the project will pay for it.
What we can also do is get maybe 100 DVD's and burn something onto them, have them on hand to give out. Stickers are another thing that are good to have. If they can be personalised in someway to reflect the event thats even better.
I have a stack of leaflets from the CentOS-5 launch days, that is mostly still relevant and I'll get those with me ( its a few hundred so were unlikely to run out ).
For demo's at the stand we need to come up with something. I tend to like having 2 machines, one to install from and another to install onto. Can carry 2 laptops with me for this purpose, or we can just use a virtmachine setup on one laptop.
So, we need to have :
- Table cover ( needs doing )
- Shirts for CentOS people, so Garry, Johnny and me ( needs doing )
- Leaflets ( already here )
- Demo laptops ( already there, Garry is going to get one, I'll have ether 1 or 2 )
- 100 DVD's with install media ( Needs doing )
I'm also going to try and come up with a 1 page write up on what and how hosting companies can do to help the project. Will print this out onto a A2 sized sheet and bring it along.

I've not been to the last few events - so, I wonder if any of the other regular guys here in europe might be able to add some more details on what they usually do there.
btw, know anywhere local there were we might be able to order the shirts ?

Yes, I have two quotes from local printers, but those are based upon some generic details (i.e. style and quality of shirt, number of colors in silkscreen, quantity ordered, etc.) I will revise my search with 3 backs x 3 days in mind. Obvioulsy, I will need to know sizes. I am an XL due to way too many Texas beer parties... :-)

these are the shirts we have normally had ( the last one of mine now has started fading a bit due to over wear - I love wearing that to the DC! )
In the past, we had our names on there as well, perhaps we can just go with the CentOS logo and name for now. Also, proper shirts > T-Shirts. As Dag pointed out, were a distro for people who wear shirts.

We have about 50 CentOS shirts that Andreas printed (I will count them tomorrow) and that we have been selling to people affiliated with CentOS [1]. As we are trying to fund a wireless router to take to the conferences. Further I started the CentOS promo box with flyers, posters, CDs, DVDs etc.. which has been to all the recent events and passed on between people. It currently is with me in London.
I was thinking of starting a promo box wiki page where I wanted to list all the content. But couldn't as I just moved.
So if you have an event you want to promote CentOS just mail me and I can send you all the information and material. Or if you want a shit, that can be arranged too.
Cheers Didi

Whereabouts in London are you based ? I travel through the city often and perhaps we can meet sometime a beer and box handover could happen!

That might be something worth doing, can we also get some sort of a statement of accounts somewhere to go along with this box ? It would be nice to make sure no one is being left out of pocket anywhere.[1]
Maybe a centos-events-box blog is called for!

An extra spicy thai meal around the corner should sort that out in most cases!

[1] Please add to that the 48euro's I am holding from Fosdem-beer-money-collection 2008.

Didi: Thanks for the info. Since the promo event at the cPanel Conference in October is in the US, my plan was to gather promo items locally, plus whatever Karanbir is willing to carry over the water.

No need to send one of those to the US either. We're covered. :-)

Shouldn't be a problem. Shall we go for a curry/food on the 24th? Do you know something nice? I live near to willsden green, some ideas? Otherwise I would recommend the Little Star close to here. It's supposed to be quite nice.

Work things have changed schedules around a bit, can we do the 28th instead ?
I know a fantastic south indian place near warren street / goodge stree. Would that be possible ? They do have some 'british curries' as well, but most of their stuff is the real deal.

My University starts on that day so I don't know if we will all be out drinking later :). But how could I say no to a curry. When are you flying? Maybe we should take this off the list.

Excellent. Send me the address and we can meet there.

What where you thinking about? Maybe produce a little more and we can add them to the promo-box.
I have started a wiki page [1] under which all the promo material should be uploaded like flyers, high res images etc. Unfortunately I don't have the sources to anything, all of the stuff is scanned. HELP needed.
Further you might want to add your name to the Promo SIG wiki page [2]

I don't have edit access to the Promo pages, so I attached an SVG graphic (and PDF) to my wiki page (GarryDale). This is what I sent to the printer for a 3 foot by 6 foot vinyl banner and some magnetic business cards. It's flat, but I'm facing a printer deadline -- and I have about one hour of experience with Inkscape.. :-) After the conference, anything left can go into the box for the next one.

Yes, hopefully. When I sent over a file to the printer the other day, they requested a "higher-quality" file. Also, I was hoping to get a graphic with the "Community ENTerprise Operating System" text riding along the bottom, like the graphic in the wiki header.
I can limp along in gimp tonight, worst case.. :-)
