Hi,
as the previous speaker I also want to introduce myself.
My name is Matthias Albert and I'm working for inovex which is a german IT system integrator with about 150 people working for and we're located in Karlsruhe, Munich and Cologne. At inovex I'm responsible for the division IT Engineering & Operations. We're doing all the stuff around GNU Linux & Open Source in a datacenter focused on High Availability and High Scaleability.
Because we're also using/working a lot with CentOS, I found the idea really great to host a CentOS dojo in Germany :).
As KB already mentioned, it would be really great if we could help organizing a Centos dojo in Germany. What I/we can offer is:
* a nice location in Karlsruhe or in Cologne (if it is OK, I would like to change the location to cologne) * we can sponsor the catering (food and drinks and coffee and so on) * we've a small and mobile "data center" where we could demonstrate a lot of cool things (http://www.minirz.com/wordpress/?page_id=39)
Regarding to the date: * From our side it would be really great if we could host the event in August 2014.
I hope I have not forgotten anything :).
Cheers,
Matthias

welcome to CentOS Promo!

thanks for offering to get this setup and run it.
- a nice location in Karlsruhe or in Cologne (if it is OK, I would like

works for me, i guess it boils down to the demographic we want to address. Infra/ops/admin is easier than dev/deployment; cloud and virt is also an option, as is storage and provisioning. Where do you think there will be max value for the local audience ?

Having seen this in action in the past, I *really* want something like this :) time to go find some fabrication capacity!

How does the week of 25 - 31st Aug work for you ? Also, are you keen to do this on a weekday or a weekend ?

I think that we're really open for any topics. From my perspective we could offer some talks or even a workshop about
* Open Source Datacenter Management which includes for example ** foreman (bare metal deployment; cloud deployment) ** puppet (as config management) * Cloud Management with OpenNebula * Building a scalable storage with ceph or glusterfs
all of them of course based on CentOS :)

If you want one -> just let me know it. I can build one for you :).

Sounds great. I think a weekday would fit much better than the weekend. So what do you think of Thursday, 28th August 2014?
Cheers,
Matthias

that sounds really good. there is certainly some level of interest in having a Dojo ( or a few of the dojo's ) around the year be more tutorial format / new-(ab)user friendly.

Cologne on the 28th Aug sounds good, worth noting that Fedora Floc is on from the 6th to the 9th Aug, and we might be able to request some people flying in from the US / East for floc to come by and talk, if we were able to move the dates closer to then.

If you're aiming for Flock attendees, I'd think in the week prior would be a better target (e.g., something like 4 August would be perfect).
Best,

There's also FrOSCon happening on August 23rd/24th in St. Augustin (just a few kilometers from Cologne).
I'm sorry for the late reply.

So what do you think? Should we plan the dojo around the flock date or should we schedule it on 4th August?
From our side 4th August would be fine too.
Cheers,
Matthias

If it's near Flock, then we can (if you like) involve some of the folks already travelling from the U.S. to Europe for Flock. It's up to whomever is going to run the event, though.

I'd say figure out the best date for the organizer(s) and run with it.
