Hail Chief Editor, Didi and the rest of the editorial team,
As the first day of August is this coming Sunday, as there is currently very little committed to disk, as an interview with / a monologue by a CentOS user is still required (my candidate has currently declined -- at least for this issue) and -- from my personal situation -- I have a pressing editorial commitment that *must be* submitted *before* next Sunday, I would like to propose that the release date of the August issue of the newsletter be set as August 15th, 2010.
Comments? Grumbles? (Payment, in used £50 notes, to be placed in the usual location, please!)
Alan / burakkucat.

As we have all seen, there has been a resounding lack of interest by the Community in submitting to CentOS Pulse, the Newsletter. So, as a consequence, there will not be anything released this month. Perhaps we should say that the next issue will appear when there is sufficient Community interest?
Didi, our Editor in Chief, has asked me (in private) about the future of the Newsletter. My response was to suggest that it should be discussed here, with those who do their best, for each issue, with the paucity of submitted content.
Comments / views / opinions are hereby solicited.
I would like to take this opportunity to publicly thank Didi for managing the Newsletter over the many past months. :-)
Alan.

I would suggest to just release new issues when they are ready and not on specified release dates. We all got enough pressure in our personal life I guess.

Thanks, Marcus. That was one of my thoughts. Assuming there is a significant interest within the Community to read that which is produced *and* suitable input is forthcoming, then there are sufficient members of the Editorial Team to massage the material into a releasable issue.
Didi as the Editor in Chief & Marcus as the Deputy Editor, at the top, then everybody else and finally me, at the bottom, to ensure a coherent style of the about-to-be-released issue without "smudges, fingerprints or fluff" showing . . .
Alan.

Are there any qualifications for this dialogue? Or are you wanting a decent banter with a client who uses CentOS, and describe the benefits for their organization / company etc?

Hi Chris,
No qualifications are required -- other than to read and write. You're here, have read the previous posts in this particular thread and feel motivated to post your above questions to it. So please go ahead and provide some input as to how you think CentOS Pulse (the Newsletter) should proceed . . .
If you have input for a future issue, please send it direct to Didi. If you wish to help with future issues' production, that's great -- another volunteer.
Alan.

Is it a case of better defining the content that could / would go into the newsletter, and then making contribution to the newsletter easier for people ?
I guess what I'm trying to say is, why is there little contribution:
- because we have not defined the framework well enough - because its hard for people to find out how to contribute - Could it be that the content in the existing newsletter isnt what most people are looking for ?

Three valid points to which I add, as the devil's advocate, a fourth:
- because there is very little interest in a newsletter by the majority of the (user) Community.

The newsletter was originally started to provide better communication between the development team and the community, and to allow people that use CentOS but do not follow CentOS development/community to participate by reading a bi-weekly summary.
I do think the above could be very useful to attract more people and provide a vision/roadmap to where CentOS is heading.

that could be a part of the newsletter, but is that all that could go into something like this ?
