KDE Updated in EPEL9

KDE has been updated in EPEL9. Versions: Plasma: 5.27.6 KF5: 5.108 Apps: 23.04.3 Known Issues: - kdepim-addons - Was not updated due to kf5-kitinerary not being updated due to older poplar in RHEL 9. -- The older version of kdepim-addons is not liking the newer libraries. -- Should be fixed this week. - lokalize - Does not install, has never installed. I kept thinking I could get it's dependencies in, but never have. -- I will be removing this package from epel9. Since it was un-installable, this shouldn't affect anyone. Deprecation: We are marking the following packages deprecated. They will not be in epel10. They will continue to be in epel9. - plasma-workspace-x11 - sddm-x11 Troy

status of CentOS Linux 7 usage in centos infra (please read)

Hi all, As we're slowly approaching end of the year, and that 2024 is around the corner, I thought it would be good to discuss remaining centos linux 7 usage in our own infra, and so what to expect (or not). As a reminder, CentOS Linux 7 will go EOL in June 2024 so before that, we should have either decommissioned, or migrated from workload still running on CentOs 7 Here is the list of remaining services and action[s]: # mirrorlist/mirror network It's not a secret that starting from CentOS Stream 9, the default vhost for the mirror network is mirror.stream.centos.org, and the way dnf is configured by default is to use metalink prepared by Mirrormanager (hosted and maintained by Fedora infra team). So that means that : - all nodes behind mirror.centos.org can go away (and content pushed to vault.centos.org, as usual) and eventually (to be discussed) the A/AAAA record for mirror.centos.org completely removed from public DNS - mirrorlist.centos.org will also be decommissioned and so not answering anything anymore (A/AAAA record removed from public DNS too) The potential impact when we'll just decommission mirrorlist.centos.org is for SIGs building for RHEL (and not Stream) 8 and so still relying on mirrorlist= in their shipped .repo. The list of impacted SIGs should be really small and as the content itself will probably moved to mirror.stream.centos.org, there will be a different thread to discuss how to do that # CentOS Forums (https://forums.centos.org) We discussed this already in the past (on this list and elsewhere) : while we can quickly migrate that service to newer stack, the underlying question was more about current moderators saying that nobody will maintain that service after June 2024. So in the current situation, we'll just decommission the forums in 2024 with no replacement. Should the situation change between now and June 2024, we'd be able to migrate (or not) the service. # mailing list (lists.centos.org) This is probably the only public service still running on CentOS Linux 7 and for which I intend to work with Fedora Infra about the mailman3 stack. Their plan is to have it in Epel 9 so that they can themselves upgrade and we can then modify our ansible role for mailman and also test a list migration from mailman2 to mailman3. # torrent trackers We used to have torrent files for CentOS releases, but it stopped with CentOS Linux 8 and no .torrent files are produced for Stream artifacts. As the infra is still running centos linux 7, and that it will not be needed anymore after CentOS 7 EOL, we'll just decommission the service entirely. # centos linux 7 buiders (infra) Not publicly visible but pretty obvious that we'll just keep that infra running until CentOS Linux 7 EOL and then we'll just decommission it entirely (as we'll not have to care about building/shipping anything for centos linux 7 -- Fabian Arrotin The CentOS Project | https://www.centos.org gpg key: 17F3B7A1 | @arrfab[@fosstodon.org]

"Most significantly, Stratis 3.6.0 extends its functionality to allow a user to set a limit on the size of a filesystem." CentOS Connect 2024

This year, we've expanded to two days, and added space for meetups. Hello everyone. We sae ceph released ceph 16.2.14, and we want to upgrade to it. I can see on the build service that the build for el8 was done, but when I check the updates, I do not see any updates to 16.2.14. And if I look at: http://mirror.centos.org/centos-8/8/storage/x86_64/ceph-pacific/Packages/c/, I do not see them as well. Will 16.2.14 be pushed to el8 repos? Thanks, Luis Domingues Proton AG

RDO Bobcat Released

RDO Bobcat Released The RDO community is pleased to announce the general availability of the RDO build for OpenStack 2023.2 Bobcat for RPM-based distributions, CentOS Stream and Red Hat Enterprise Linux. RDO is suitable for building private, public, and hybrid clouds. Bobcat is the 28th release from the OpenStack project, which is the work of more than 1,000 contributors from around the world. The release is already available for CentOS Stream 9 on the CentOS mirror network in: http://mirror.stream.centos.org/SIGs/9-stream/cloud/x86_64/openstack-bobcat/ The RDO community project curates, packages, builds, tests and maintains a complete OpenStack component set for RHEL and CentOS Stream and is a member of the CentOS Cloud Infrastructure SIG. The Cloud Infrastructure SIG focuses on delivering a great user experience for CentOS users looking to build and maintain their own on-premise, public or hybrid clouds. All work on RDO and on the downstream release, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, is 100% open source, with all code changes going upstream first. The highlights of the broader upstream OpenStack project may be read via https://releases.openstack.org/bobcat/highlights.html but here are some highlights: - New Cinder driver features were added, notably, QoS support for Fujitsu ETERNUS DX driver, replication-enabled consistency groups support for Pure Storage driver, and Active/Active support for NetApp NFS driver. - Glance added support for RBD driver to move images to the trash if they cannot be deleted immediately due to having snapshots. - The Neutron service has enabled the new API policies (RBAC) with system scope and default roles by default. - The Nova legacy quota driver is now deprecated and a nova-manage limits command is provided in order to migrate the orginal limits into Keystone. We plan to change the default quota driver to the unified limits driver in an upcoming release. It is recommended that you begin planning and executing a migration to unified limits as soon as possible. OpenStack Bobcat is not marked as Skip Level Upgrade Release Process or SLURP. According to this model ( https://governance.openstack.org/tc/resolutions/20220210-release-cadence-ad…) this means that upgrades will only be supported from the Antelope 2023.1 release. RDO Bobcat 2023.2 has been built and tested with the recently released Ceph 18.2.0 Reef version (https://docs.ceph.com/en/latest/releases/reef/) which has been published by the CentOS Storage SIG in the official CentOS repositories. *Note:* Follow the instructions in [RDO documentation]( https://www.rdoproject.org/install/install-with-ceph/) to install OpenStack and Ceph services in the same host. During the Bobcat 2023.2 development cycle, the RDO community has implemented automatic dependency detection at run and build time. We expect that these changes will lead to more accurate dependency chains in OpenStack packages and less manual maintenance tasks for community maintainers. [sig-core-t_functional] Failing tests issues and TERM

Hi Johnny, Adam, QA team When I saw the perf test being disabled, I ended up trying out removing the eval to see if that was the issue. I did try to reach out before bringing this change but I got no feedback. I see that yesterday it was disabled again, together with sysstat. What they have in common is the use of `trap` to cleanup files. Is that likely the issue? should I try removing the use of `trap` in all those tests and see if that solves it? Regards, Carlos.

Status of signing kernels in CBS?

Good Morning Everyone, I remember a while back discussions about allowing SIGs to sign kernel builds built in CBS. I don't remember seeing anything land though. Did I miss something? Or is this still an ongoing discussion? Thanks, Pierre
