Hi all,
I admit that I'm not sure if this is an EPEL, CentOS or RDO problem.
I had to pick a place to start and this is it ;P
I've done afresh CentOS 7 install on both x86_64 and ppc64le. After
adding the EPEL and epel-testing repos I do yum, install -y rdopkg and I
get words to the effect of:
<snip>
Error: Package: python2-rdopkg-0.45.0-4.el7.noarch (epel)
Requires: pyOpenSSL >= 16.2.0
Installing: pyOpenSSL-0.13.1-3.el7.ppc64le (base)
pyOpenSSL = 0.13.1-3.el7
<snip>
I can pretty easily get past this with:
yum localinstall http://cbs.centos.org/kojifiles/packages/pyOpenSSL/16.2.0/3.el7/noarch/pyth…
but I suspect that it means I'm missing smething simple. Is the
another repo I need to enable when using EPEL?
Yours Tony.

Hi All,
Firstly I admit I could easily have missed something.
I'm looking for the altarch (in my case ppc64le) repos that matches
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/virt/x86_64/kvm-common/
I kinda assumed it'd be at http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7/
I haven't checked all the packages but the few I did check in CBS have
been build for altarch
Any pointers accepted
Yours Tony.
Hi
I've noticed that libssh inexplicably vanished from the ppc64le C7 extras
repository, c.f., http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7.4.1708/extras/ppc64/Packages/ .
The weird part is that this package is still available for ppc64le on
http://mirror.centos.org/altarch/7.4.1708/extras/ppc64le/Packages/
The first time I noticed this was on Dec 10, though it might have been deleted
earlier.
Is there any reason why this happened? I assume that libssh was updated and a
rebuild for all arches attempted, but the ppc64 builder might have either had
general problems or the build failed in some other way. Would fit in (kinda)
with the outage notice from Dec 2nd.
I've tried tracking where "extras" builds are taking place. CBS seems to be a
reasonable place for that, but the information for libssh seems to be outdated
as per https://cbs.centos.org/koji/packageinfo?packageID=51
This page only lists rev 2, while the x86_64 and ppc64le repos both feature a
package with rev 3, though.
Given that the ppc64le packages don't have a .centos suffix, am I right to
assume that such packages are built internally by Red Hat and that this
infrastructure is not transparent to users?
In any case, I'd appreciate a rebuild on ppc64.
Mihai
Hi,
As mention in thread "Broken man pages in vagrant box 1710.01". There
are packages that removal might be consider. First one is centos-logos.
centos-logos are required by plymouth, that add animation during boot.
In my opinion it's not necessary for Vagrant image.
Second one is kernel-firmware. This package don't have any further
dependencies in libvirt image. As said libvirt image is working (in my
case ofc, note that I don't have fully functional test suit for Vagrant
images) without it. Fedora cloud image from
https://app.vagrantup.com/fedora/boxes/27-cloud-base also lives without
this package (at least libvirt box).
I want to notice that I'm unable to provide any additional information
on different vagrant providers, so any critics are kindly welcome.
Bests,
Alex
