[Proposal] Adding an alternative architecture to your SIG.

Hi Folks, We are able to build packages for new arches we need to propose a workflow to support a new architecture in a SIG project. Two use cases : A/ It's an official architecture. -> Sources *must* build for all enable architecture. SIGs are responsible to fix issues for all arches. -> We provide a script that will rebuild existing arch specific packages (scratch build + merge scratch build) if needed. (Note: In case only newer version of your project supports this arch, this step may be skipped.) => "On Monday SIG board decided to enable aarch64, and then all new tasks must build for aarch64." B/ It's a proposed architecture. -> Some person in a SIG would like to work on add an architecture and do the porting work but SIG would not support it as a first citizen until it gets traction. -> Source will be build on a separate tag (a different disttag will be used) -> We provide a script that rebuild srpm (NV must remain the same as original SIG package) and merge the build when architecture is promoted as an "official architecture". => "Work on this architecture support and when ready send a proposal to promote your working port to the SIG board" I think that supporting the two use cases will benefit the community, and allow less common architectures to be supported faster. At koji level, these modifications can be done per SIG *project*. Let us know what you think/expect and your feedback. -- Thomas Oulevey

[CBS] aarch64 & existing builds

Hi, I'd like to add aarch64 builds to existing builds (which were so far x86_64-only). So far, I see two solutions: * scratch-build the same NVR on aarch64 then attach it to the existing build (mentioned by Jim), * bumping the release, so that leveldb-1.12.0-5.el7 becomes leveldb-1.12.0-5.1.el7 - I'd rather not do that as this breaks keeping in sync with EPEL. Thomas, Brian, is the first solution feasible, and if yes, can you detail the steps? Thanks François

cmake version lower as centos 6.7

By testing llvm I could not compile llvm 3.8 because of the wrong version of cmake Centos 7 2.8.11-5.el7 Centos 6.7 - 2.8.12.2-4.el7.centos (recompile same revision) build done im my repo to get wheel.... http://centos.cms4all.org/centos/7/llvm/SRPM/ Sincerely Andy

Alternative Architecture SIG - s390x?

I have access to IBM z12 and z13 hardware. Currently, I'm running RHEL6 and RHEL7 for s390x architecture. Is is possible for me to offer compile resources for the alternate architecture of s390x? I've already recompiled many packages (EPEL for example) with great success on s390x. It is a requirement of the CentOS community that the hardware be 'owned' by the CentOS community? It is not possible for me to make the hardware available to outside persons. Basically, I'm offering my time to compile CentOS on Z. Thanks, Brian

Hi, EPEL ships fcgi-2.4.0-25.el7: http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=609511 while the latest CBS build is fcgi-2.4.0-21.el7: http://cbs.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=832 The changelog includes: * Fri Feb 06 2015 Till Maas <opensource(a)till.name> - 2.4.0-25 - Fix crash when too many connections are used - Make gcc build dependencies obvious for local builds * Mon Feb 03 2014 Till Maas <opensource(a)till.name> - 2.4.0-22 - Harden build I'd like our Ceph Jewel rebuild to ship the exact same RPMs than EPEL so I'll rebuild fcgi-2.4.0-25.el7 shortly unless anyone objects.
