That's arguable. The redhat-release package contains a file, /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources, that sets up2date to use the default url. The actual sources are defined in the up2date config file, /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date, which is part of the up2date package. Yes, there is a sample line allowing up2date to use yum as its backend in the /etc/sysconfig/rhn/sources file, but it's commented out. Do not update packages without changelog please

Hi, I see that there are updates and no lines with reasons in the SPEC file (%chagelog). Please include changelog messages to allow track the changes and reasons for this (when something breaks for example). Also there are a tools for tracking changes in the updated system by emailing %changelog changes together with sw updates. Heartbeat 2.0.7 in the testing repo

All, We currently have a heartbeat-2.0.7 rpm in the testing repository. I have updated all my DRBD instances to use the new heartbeat and they seem to be working correctly. I know several other people are also using the new heartbeat-2.0.7 RPMS from the testing repo. Please test those RPMS and provide feedback, as I will be moving the heartbeat RPMS into the Extras repo if I do not get any negative feedback. Thanks, Johnny Hughes

Good day ... i was compiling t2 build system when i had problems with ncursesdevel header files untill i removed the default with centos and installed a one from rpm2find version 5.4-4 /usr/include/ncurses/curses.h:109:28: error: ncurses/unctrl.h: No such file or directory In file included from top.c:28: /usr/include/ncurses/curses.h: In function 'NCURSES_EXPORT_VAR': /usr/include/ncurses/curses.h:181: error: expected declaration specifiers before 'COLORS' /usr/include/ncurses/curses.h:182: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'COLOR_PAIRS' can u check out the errors please.... what's up with iproute-2.6.9-3.EL4.3.centos4?

There is an update to iproute, 2.6.9-3.EL4.3.centos4, in the i386 updates area, but not in x86_64. The changelog contains the terse comment "fix for CentOS bug #1476", which is here: <http://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=1476>. Unfortunately, that doesn't indicate exactly what the issue was, or mention anything about being i386-only. Can someone shed some light on this? Metalinks for CentOS (all mirrors & checksums in one file)

Hi, Just another ping to see if CentOS is still interested in using metalink. It's especially useful for large files such as .ISOs. OpenOffice.org (http://distribution.openoffice.org/p2p/magnet.html) and 7 Linux/BSD distributions are using it to distribute their ISOs and other software updates. kernel.org will be using it soon as well. They can be automatically generated with software from your Romanian mirror at http://metalink.packages.ro/ aria2 RPMs for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4: http://dries.ulyssis.org/rpm/packages/aria2/info.html There's a metalink for CentOS at http://www.metalinker.org/samples/CentOS-4.4-i386-LiveCD.iso.metalink if anyone wants to try it out. Idea for single CD install

I tried the 4.4 LiveCD and find it has a very good selection from both GNOME and KDE. I request that a single installer CD (as opposed to the full 4 CD set or 1 DVD) be provided for installing the same contents to the hard disk, just like a regular install. Maybe you can do the installer on the same live CD, like the Kubuntu Desktop CD. Single CD installs will go a long way to popularize CentOS, IMHO. P.S: Seeing as this Live CD is based on the linux-live scripts, and SLAX which uses the same linux-live scripts can be just copied to HDD and run from there, is it also possible to do the same with CentOS?
