CentOS Dojo at Bangalore & Pune , India

Hi, This is the first time that I am mailing to this list. So I believe a small introduction may be good. My name is Rejy M Cyriac (rmc), and I work in Quality Engineering at Red Hat, Bangalore office. I have used CentOS a lot in the early days, and then RHEL and Fedora took up most of my time. But I have been following the CentOS space always, and especially have taken particular attention to explain to interested folks on how Fedora, RHEL, and CentOS are all part of the same ecosystem. And so I was pretty overjoyed when I heard the news of the new closer relationship between Red Hat and CentOS. Ever since, I have been thinking how exciting it would be to contribute to organising CentOS Dojo(s) in India. I got to know from Karanbir Singh that there have been some initial movements in setting up a CentOS Dojo at Bangalore, and that it would be desirable to have a Dojo at Pune too. There are quite a lot of folks at the Red Hat offices in Bangalore and Pune who would be interested in contributing to this. I had an initial discussion with some interested folks at the Red Hat Bangalore office, and two Red Hatters - Dominic Geevarghese and Neependra Khare - have volunteered from the Bangalore office to take the lead in working with the CentOS community to organize a Dojo at Bangalore this year. If there is no venue set for the event as yet, we could consider the use of the Red Hat Bangalore office for conducting the event. Dominic <share2dom(a)gmail.com> and Neependra <neependra.khare(a)gmail.com> are subscribed to the mailing list, and have also been copied into this mail. We can also work together to have a Dojo at Pune, and I working on a contact person from the Red Hat Pune office for this. I believe there is interest in the CentOS community for this, right ? CentOS Dojo in Carrollton, GA

We use CentOS quite a bit here and I know that it is also used extensively throughout our university system so I thought it would be cool if we could have a CentOS Dojo on our campus. If that's doable my thought is that we could promote it to our campus, to the local community, and also to other universities in Georgia. We have plenty of space on campus to host the event plus we have a variety of food options on campus with many more a short distance away. I would be very open to topic suggestions but would be particularly interested in the following: - anything geared towards current Windows admins / users who what to know more about the world of Linux and CentOS in particular. This could be particularly timely since Windows XP is approching it end of support. - Puppet and other DevOps kind of things - how the CentOS project works at a technical level - anything geared towards current Computer Science or Management Information Systems students - anything about how public sector organizations such as universities can support and promote CentOS and Linux in general These are just some ideas that I hope will spark more interest. I have no idea if others in this area are on this mailing list or not so I am sort of expecting that I will have to post this elsewhere for it to be seen by many who would be interested in attending. We have the most space available during the summer but could most likely make this work any time of the year. It would just depend on the room requirements and what else was already scheduled to be happening on campus. Dojo - Port au Prince Haiti

Based on a comment on IRC, I investigated the options, and I have a contact in Port au Prince, Haiti, who has a facility that we would be able to use in the November-February time frame, when I would otherwise be freezing through a Kentucky winter. Are we interested in doing a Dojo in Haiti? The facility is a middle school and high school, with reliable Internet and rooms where we could hold events. We could bring food and beverage onto campus, but due to the nature of the facility we would not be able to bring alcohol onsite - I don't know if that's a show-stopper for anyone. If it is, my brother-in-law would be glad to help us find other facilities, but we'd be giving up some pretty sweet digs. Disclaimer: I haven't actually been to the school, but I've heard great things about the facilities, and would really like to visit the place where my sister works. Hi, as the previous speaker I also want to introduce myself. My name is Matthias Albert and I'm working for inovex which is a german IT system integrator with about 150 people working for and we're located in Karlsruhe, Munich and Cologne. At inovex I'm responsible for the division IT Engineering & Operations. We're doing all the stuff around GNU Linux & Open Source in a datacenter focused on High Availability and High Scaleability. Because we're also using/working a lot with CentOS, I found the idea really great to host a CentOS dojo in Germany :). As KB already mentioned, it would be really great if we could help organizing a Centos dojo in Germany. What I/we can offer is: * a nice location in Karlsruhe or in Cologne (if it is OK, I would like to change the location to cologne) * we can sponsor the catering (food and drinks and coffee and so on) * we've a small and mobile "data center" where we could demonstrate a lot of cool things (http://www.minirz.com/wordpress/?page_id=39) Regarding to the date: * From our side it would be really great if we could host the event in August 2014.
