this just showed up on my irc feed:
"09:53 -christel(christel(a)freenode/staff/exherbo.christel)- [Global
Notice] Good morning freenode! We would like to invite projects (FOSS,
peer-directed and companies alike) to come exhibit at the freenode #live
conference in Bristol, UK on October
28-29th this year. Please see
http://freenode.net/news/freenode-live-exhibit for further details.
Registration and CFP are also open! Get involved!
"
Freenode has been a key part of the origin and success of the CentOS
Project - and it would be good to get there and tell the wider story. I
am happy to take the weekend of the 28th/29th to get there, anyone else
in the area able to come across ?
Regards

Description:
The CentOS Project is a community-driven free software effort focused
around the goal of providing a rich base platform for open source
communities to build upon. The CentOS Project is well know for the
CentOS Linux distribution, serving as that base platform.

Why does it fit FOSDEM
The CentOS Project fits perfectly with the FOSDEM spirit , as it enables
communities to speak to each other and start new collaboration[s], which
is actually one of the goals on our side. And also because we're there
at Fosdem since 2007 and a lot of people are
expecting to see us there again

As you may know, we are planning to hold a Dojo at CERN, in Meyrin,
Switzerland, on October 20th. You may find more details here:
https://indico.cern.ch/event/649159/overview
If you think that you may attend, and if you would like to speak
regarding the work that you're doing on CentOS, your SIG, or some
interesting project that you're running on top of CentOS, please
consider submitting a paper: https://indico.cern.ch/event/649159/abstracts/
We've listed a submission deadline of September 14th, but we have very
limited space, and will likely schedule talks as they come in, when
something catches our eye. So don't wait until the last minute!
We hope to see you in October!

hi
Its been a while since we started the dojo process, and I thought it
might be good to recap once how the cfp's have worked in the past - As
we reboot this effort, I hope we can get better at this and take what we
can and works, and just do things differently as needed.
In the early days, the intention was very much to have a dojo be a local
event, primarily targeting a local audience and then focusing on content
they are most interested in.
Couple of the main highlights from the dojo's:
1) try and ensure everyone attending has a chance to introduce
themselves to the entire audience.
2) ensure we have speakers from the local attendees, people that the
audience can already identify with ideally. It encourages these people
to become and improve their community participation - and gives the
local audience a few people they can rally around ongoing.
3) ensure we have atleast 1 or 2 people talking about CentOS, the
project and CentOS the Linux distro / infra / process etc ( ie. not
about the code )
4) address the audience with the scope they care for - so rather than
doing a Cfp' weve mostly run dojos with invited speakers talking about a
pre-selected subject base that would be interesting to the audience.
Atleast 1 or 2 of the sessions should be a tutorial like format ( if we
have 2 rooms, that makes it easier to have hack sessions as well, or in
depth sessions around something specific ).
5) encourage cost of facilities and dojo to come from a sponsor, and
make it free of cost to attend. Sponsors are welcome to join the speaker
lineup with a topical session
6) Try and setup the room in a way that the dojo can bootstrap a local
effort ongoing - so we can help the team come back together, a year down
the road, and rerun the dojo without CentOS project participation.
ideally, bootstrapping a local community around sysadmin, user-scope,
emerging tech in operations and devops etc. Allow the group to retain
the CentOS Dojo name for the event, but also ensure they keep it to the
spirit and scope of the intended goals.
regards,

We have arranged to do a CentOS Dojo at CERN - http://home.cern/ - on
October 20th, 2017.
This is the Friday right before Open Source Summit in Prague, so people
that are traveling for that event might consider combining trips and
spending an extra day with us!
CERN is a big CentOS shop, and runs one of the largest OpenStack
clusters in the world. They know more than almost anybody about running
these technologies at scale, and we can all learn a lot from them.
If you are in the area, and think you might be able to attend, please
let me know, and help spread the word.

I've tentatively arranged to do a CentOS Dojo/Meetup in Oak Ridge
Tennessee, on Tuesday, September 5th. This will be held in conjunction
with the local LOPSA (League of Professional System Administrators -
https://lopsa.org/ ) and ORNL - Oak Ridge National Laboratories.
If you are in the area, and will be able to attend, please get in touch
with me, as we'll looking for a couple of speakers. ORLN is a big
OpenStack shop, so I expect to see some OpenStack content from them.
We'll be announcing more information here as we have it, and look
forward to seeing you in Oak Ridge.

I was wondering if the schedule posted at
https://wiki.centos.org/Events/Dojo/Brussels2017 is complete, or if
there's more to come. I'm asking because some of the folks who have
indicated interest in speaking, are on the verge of losing travel
funding (and some already have lost travel funding) because they don't
know if they're speaking at this event.
Thanks.

hi
Daniel Paulus has offered to help with the organization and be a point
of contact for the Brussels Dojo in Feb 3rd 2017. The rest of the team
will still be supporting his efforts through the process.
Daniel has been a long standing friend of the CentOS Project, and
people who were at the very first dojo in Antwerp will remember him as
the person educating us about dogTag and cert authority management. He's
also been seen at other dojo's asking the hardest questions! But lets
not hold that against him, he's a full time devops consultant after all.
Asking the hard question is what he does :)
Kris Buytaert also joins the organisation group. With Fabian Arrotin
helping us on the ground, local to Brussels. Jim Perrin and Karsten Wade
continue to help with the Red Hat relationship. It shall be my aim to
support the group as best as I can.
Please join me in welcoming the expanding CentOS Dojo organization
group, and I look forward to seeing everyone in Feb.
Regards,
