It is with me. I haven't had the time to update the inventory yet. I'm 99% sure that I will come to FOSDEM and I will bring the box with me.
Inventory follows.
Sorry for the irritation.

Hey Andreas, no irritation at all and i'm even glad to know that you're coming ! At least Ralph and myself will not be the only ones there :-)

is there a wish list of things that could be added to the promo box ?

Umm... maybe nice CentOS 6 DVDs?

64 or 32 bit ? Better still, some LIVE CDs additionally.
With a bit of planning Centos could have imported several hundreds / thousands from China at a very, very low price including MwSt and EU customs duty.

Paul.

in the past, we've noticed that most people actually only ever want x86_64 these days.
LiveDVD's are easy as well.
I'm guessing we can just get 200 DVD's and burn as needed. Not that I have any optical device anymore.

what planning and what would we do with thousands of these :) remember the shelf life is another issue, in 6 months, we need a new point release

How about:-
64-bit DVDs (2 per set or could 6.2 be 'squashed' onto one DVD?) 32 & 64-bit LIVE CDs
It would mean 1 DVD and 2 CDs were required for one pack of disks which could be handed-out with a request the recipient shares the disks with others.
Volunteers - ask on main list - could do 10 of the DVD or CD and post them to an address in England, BRD etc. of intending FOSDEM attendees.

Universities should, ideally, have people possessing enquiring minds. That is one distributing place. A walk around Brussels handing-out CDs/DVDs could get rid of more. Belgium has 3 languages: German, Belgium-French and Belgium-Dutch (Vlaams). English is understood by most computer fans. Mingling with the population and distributing disks should be fairly easy and an enjoyable experience.
++ Goede middag mevrouw, wet U iets over computers?
or something like that :-)
Paul.

do you mean to imply there are 'not nice CentOS-6 DVDs' ??!!!!
I can go out and get 200 or so, and burn 75 LiveDVD's, 75 x86_64/6.2 and 50 i386/6.2; would that work ?
these would be sponsored, so no need to recover cost

I imply that we don't have a sane way to label the DVDs right now. Afair I got a Stamp for "CentOS 5" and "CentOS 5 Live". I also don't have any CD/DVD/whatever, so I cannot create DVDs on the fly at FOSDEM.

let me see if i can come up with something

sorry, that was rather imprecise: i *do* have CDs and DVDs, I just don't have a drive in my Notebook anymore. So afaict disks and sleeves are there, but because we lack a dvd-writer nobody can actually write the DVDs during FOSDEM :)

humm I can probably loan an external DVD-writer, but its a usb2 interface. I suspect its going to be slow going, if we are going to be doing it on the fly.
I just spoke to a local promo printing guy - and he might be able to do some DVD's for us, but he can only do 1 colour, so we cant get the CentOS logo onto there. Would it work if we just had the white outline and the name ? or is that not worth doing ? I could potentially start doing the dvd write ops from now'ish and get through a fair few in the next 3 weeks :)

I'm fine with almost anything that is accurate, reproducible and is not handwriting :)

ok, so how many disks do you have ? and should we try and get stickers printed for them ? I'll speak to the person here ( uniformleisurewear.co.uk is the closest thing to a website that they have ) and see if we can start the process off for some disks.
We might be able to get some usb-keys and get livemedia onto that ( but dont count on it yet, I need to do some work around before that is confirmed )

I'm sure that I don't have media for 6.2. So feel free.

I thought about that several times, but usb-keys are still too expensive.

looks like the best way to address this is going to be buying a printer, and buying printable dvd's. I've get something sorted

I had a look around and make some calls today : the best price we can get for 4GB USB devices is about £5 with a 1 colour logo stamped in ( and we would need to get a few hundred! ) Lets keep looking :)

Sure, if you want to do that - let me know what the costs are going to be in advance, before you go out and buy anything. Also, are you happy to do these prints for other events as well ? Hopefully, we will be doing atleast a few events in the US, Asia and one in Japan as well this year.

are you still keen on doing this ? if not, let me know and I can do so, but I would need a confirmation before the weekend so we can order the stuff and get it done in time.
I guess 300 disks would be a good target ?

300 is a lot. I wouldn't even dare to make 300 disks at home. That takes ages. As we've learned from previous events that people usually only want the latest release, it is pointless to create 300 disks with 6.2 now when 6.3 is just a matter of a few months.
I guess we should just create the disks we will need for an event. Btw... can we have an ISO for double-layer DVDs? Or maybe even a i386/x86_64 Live/Install "Monster"-DVD? We could make that spin private so people can get it at conferences only :) The point is: DL-DVDs may be expensive. But when you print an image onto each disk with an inkjet two single-layer DVDs become more expensive than one double-layer DVD.
I still favor the burning@home + printing@home idea, but it is important to keep the quantity low. I cannot remember any event where we gave away more than 100 DVDs. I think usually it is 25 or less. For larger quantities (i.e. 100+ disks) I'd call a professional...
Concerning the printer: I planned on buying a Brother DCP-J925DW anyway. So I could just buy it right now, print a bunch of CentOS DVDs and get a refund for the ink and the disks used :)

I was thinking more along the lines of doing this once, and using them for other meetup's and conferences as well.

Creating the iso is easy, but does the existing livedvd media not give us something like that ? its easily installable as well.

ok, i dont think we have the time for anything else ( if we want to have them done for Fosdem ).

Thats a good idea. But 300 is still much - especially if I shall make them in the next two weeks.

The LiveDVD is either i386 or x86_64 and it doesn't contain all Packages. I know several enviroments where you cannot use yum to install additional software (firewalls and kerberized proxy servers ftw). So the LiveDVD doesn't really do the trick.
If building the ISOs is easy, go for it.

At least the "need a printer" thing is fixed right now.

yes, just make as many as you think are worthwhile for the event.

Let me look, not sure what QA and other implications might be.
