Gnumeric

Hi, I am trying to install Gnumeric in CentOS 4 and I can't. It complains about quite a few dependencies failing. It suggested installing some postgresql librairies, openldap librairies... I did that, now I still get: dependencies failed: libmdb/libmdbsq/libsqlite/libxbase/libtds. Is there a yum repository that has them or a yum repository for gnumeric? I have tried Dag, he does not, he has libgda, but that has other requirements... -- Thanks

CentOS4 and older megaraid

Release notes say no support for the RAID card in a box I just picked up...is there no hope for this box running 2.6 kernel? http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/enterprise/RHEL-4-Manual/release- notes/as-x86/ The kernel shipped with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 includes the new megaraid_mbox driver from LSI Logic, which replaces the megaraid driver. The megaraid_mbox driver has an improved design, is compatible with the 2.6 kernel, and includes support for the latest hardware. However, megaraid_mbox does not support some of the older hardware that was supported by the megaraid driver. Adapters with the following PCI vendor ID and device ID pairs are not supported by the megaraid_mbox driver: vendor, device 0x101E, 0x9010 0x101E, 0x9060 0x8086, 0x1960 <--- my card ---< The lspci -n command can be used to display the IDs for adapters installed in a particular machine. Products with these IDs are known by (but not limited to) the following model names: * Dell PERC (dual-channel fast/wide SCSI) RAID controller * Dell PERC2/SC (single-channel Ultra SCSI) RAID controller * Dell PERC2/DC (dual-channel Ultra SCSI) RAID controller * Dell CERC (four-channel ATA/100) RAID controller * MegaRAID 428 * MegaRAID 466 * MegaRAID Express 500 * HP NetRAID 3Si and 1M Both Dell and LSI Logic have indicated that they no longer support these models in the 2.6 kernel. As a result, these adapters are not supported in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4. Craig

Install Guide for PostFix (with DoveCot, SquirrelMail, MailScanner, ClamAV) on CentOS-4

Ok, I have been working (for quite a while) on an install guide for PostFix (with DoveCot, SquirrelMail, MailScanner, ClamAV) on CentOS-4. A full install is part 1 (Postfix / Dovecot / Cyrus-Sasl), Part 3 (SquirrelMail) and Part 4 (MailScanner, Spam Assassin, ClamAV). I am still working on Part 2 (Postfix / Cyrus-Imap / Cyrus-Sasl). It will go with Part 3 and Part 4 (same as above) to get a full install that includes Cyrus-Imapd instead of dovecot ... should be done with this one in the next couple days. So to reiterate, Part 1,3,4 is a full postfix/dovecot install ... it is done and ready to go. Parts 2,3,4 is a full postfix/cyrus-imapd install ... this one is not quite done yet. kde-file manager su mode

hi y'all, ...realize that maybe I should go to kde w/this but then, I do run centos on my systems soooo... kk I like to run kde's file manager in super user mode. On one of my systems, it's acting it's ass...as my default editor I do use kwrite and I normally set that up to open any text type file w/that but for some reason, on this one certain system, I can't navigate among the folders. I double click on a folder as I normally do and it just throws me into kwrite instead on just navigating down the tree. Just wondering if any of y'all might have some ideas to correct this simply. I just can't seem to find the right config option to do it. thx John Rose -- ...and I woke up 2 days later in the back yard talking to Elvis!

CBQ and/or HTB help needed

Ok, this has been kicking my @$$ for weeks. I'm trying to get some kind of bandwidth shaping working on my server. I need to throttle ftp down so as not to suck up all the available bandwidth. I had cbq working on the old server (an ancient RH 6.2 box) so I figured I'd just move the config over and get cbq.init from sf.net and it should work. Unfortunately it doesn't. At least it doesn't work to the extent that no throttling of ftp is being done. So next I thought I'd try htb (as someone here mentioned it as an alternative). After printing out the entire section on bandwidth management from the lartc documentation I still can't seem to get anything working. I think I'm at the "forest/trees" point where I've been banging my head against this so much I'm missing something obvious. So, if anyone out there could lend a hand (or more precisely a pair of eyes) I would be greatly appreciative. To save list bandwidth, send replies to me and once I get things working I'll post a summery, with full credit attribution, to the list. Claims to have fixed the write performance issues with multiple volumes. Haven't tried it personally (I do not have a 9500S card, and I have only installed one once for a client). Trying to control the torrent of spam...

Someone got ahold of my information (actually, I know who they are - t2net.net - just not how to get back at them) and now I'm getting 4 phone calls a week upwards of 20 spams a day. I'm trying to put an end to the spam at least and the built-in stuff for Evolution isn't working as well as it should I did some Googling on procmail and fetchmail and spamassassin config files and much of this documentation is out of date for CentOS 4.1 because it uses a newer version of spamassassin. Can someone point me in the direction of some example config files that just rewrite the subject lines so I can filter them. An IDEAL setup would be one where spam gets auto-forwarded to the FTC's spam email address and to BlueSecurity.com. But I don't know if such a program exists for Linux. Preston

Xen under CentOS 4

hi all, Where i can found docs about install Xen under CentOS 4 ?? (I only find docs for Fedora). Do I need a precompiled kernel or can I use binary kernel that comes with xen binaries??? Is there a version of tripwire for Centos? I did a quick search in one of the mirrors but did not find one. Possibly I am looking in the wrong place.
