how to install BackupPC on CentOS 5.2 -- use Testing repository

Hi. I just installed CentOS for the first time, to make a BackupPC server. However, when I try to install BackupPC using yum, I get the error: No package backuppc available. I searched the Testing, Extras and CentOS Plus repositories, and found a BackupPC package only in Testing, at http://dev.centos.org/centos/5/testing/x86_64/RPMS/backuppc-3.1.0-1.el5.cen… which I downloaded directly. Just posting this in case somebody else has a similar issue. Best, Aleksey

Ok, downloading the BackupPC RPM directly did not work to myriad dependencies and sub-dependencies. How do I add the Test repository to my yum config, please? just had a server hang on me...seems pretty clearly that some process stole all the RAM (clamd?) ISC dhcpd and Vista clients

Has anyone had good luck serving dhcp addresses to Vista clients that work reliably? I have a test system and I can't seem to find out how to properly get dhcpd to always respond with broadcast instead of unicast since Vista won't honor unicast dhcp packets. -- MailScanner is like deodorant... You hope everybody uses it, and you notice quickly if they don't!!!!

Unable to write video dvd using k3b

Hi, I download dvd movie files from torrent.It is like below -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1048614912 2008-07-24 16:49 VTS_01_1.VOB -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 538210304 2008-07-24 16:52 VTS_01_2.VOB File command on above giving the below ouput. file VTS_01_1.VOB VTS_01_1.VOB: MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex file VTS_01_2.VOB VTS_01_2.VOB: MPEG sequence, v2, program multiplex When i opened any of the above files using vlc or kaffeine it is playing the movie properly.But when i try to create the video dvd file onto my dvd using k3b its giving error "Not able to find DVD format". Plz help me how to write this into dvd to watch this movie in normal dvd player. Regards LINGU

I have always wanted a distro in-between long term support and cutting edge. Say one that uses the kernel/command line part of a long term distro and the gui and gui apps of a cutting edge distro (maybe 1 back from the cutting edge). xfs on 5.2 (live cd + dvd)

Hello, I'm planning a server migration and being able to mount xfs file systems with the live cd would be a cruical feature. So before I download and try ... can anyone tell me whether the xfs is included in the 5.2 live cd? Later on I'm planning to install a new system with xen, 3ware 9550SX-4LP and xfs. The xen domains are of course located on xfs partitions. Do these features come with the standard dvd or do I have to build a custom kernel for that? Under centos-4.5 I chose xfs for performance reasons. With 5.2, is it still the fs of choice when it comes to performance or do you have better recommendations? (It will be a combined web and mail server with moderate traffic, i.e. not toooo much but not tooo little). Maybe, the traditional libpcap has no provided enough capability like PF_RING. Or, perhapse something wrong is indeed in patched kernel or Dell hardware drivers. BTW, could you tell me what OS distribution you used in your testing PF_RING, RedHat AS4 or Others? And what kernel source codes are downloaded, from vendor's websites or www.kernel.org? Anybody else notice how poorly Firefox 3 update on CentOS-5 works via NX connection? Any suggestions on fixing the visual artifacts/bad redraws? Craig
